About Martin Dunne 

Martin Dunne is a Kilkenny man living in Dublin. He is a renowned hurley maker working from Drumcomdra and is with the O'Tooles club. He has been making and repairing hurleys for the last 30 years. For years Martin gave courses in hurley repairs all over the country. He has now spotted a problem with traditional ash hurleys and he has a solution. He strengthens his hurleys by coating the bas of the hurley with a thin layer fibre glass. The advantages of a fibre glass bas are, no bands needed which reduces cracks ,reduces breakage,no extra weight,better puck ,lasts longer and inexpensive. Also it is 100% irish and still an ash hurley! It could happen that all hurleys are finished with a layer of fibre glass. A great idea. Martin thinks it makes his hurleys different to all other hurley makers. By adding a extra bit of time, the hurley will last longer.
