The O Brien family have been making hurleys on the Tipperary road in Cahir, co.Tipperary, since the 1940’s. John is the third generation to continue the family trade. John uses only 100% irish ash to make his hurleys. Each ash plank is naturally air dried for around 8 months before it is ready for use. Each hurley is finished in the traditional method of using spokeshave and hand plane before it is sanded. Great care is taken in making every hurley to insure it is well balanced with no weak or heavy spots. Each has a sweet strike and you will feel the difference in your hands.
